An application that takes any image and provides a IIIF Image API service for it, and groups sets of images together.
The Wellcome Library and Digirati are currently building a managed implementation of various standards centred around the International Image Interoperability Framework. This platform is Digital Library Cloud Services or DLCS.
Although the primary use cases for the DLCS APIs are in systems integration scenarios in digitisation workflows, we can also build more interactive web applications. We made iiif.ly to show how the DLCS APIs can be used to build an application that takes any image from your computer or the internet and provides a IIIF Image API service for it. It also allows you to group a set of images together.
This video shows three scenarios:
- Take a single image from my computer and generate a IIIF endpoint
- Take any image from the web and generate a IIIF endpoint
- Register a set of images and view them in the Universal Viewer
