Role summary

We are looking for a talented User Experience Designer to come and join our Cultural Heritage team. This is an opportunity for someone curious, empathetic, meticulous and organised, who brings skills across the many aspects of user experience including research, design and strategy and wants to expand those skills working primarily within the cultural heritage and digital humanities sectors.

Reporting to your project director, you will champion user needs across the entire life-cycle of the products and websites we build. You will be responsible for creating meaningful digital experiences, working alongside product and development teams to create user centric designs that are simple and pleasurable to use. You will have strong problem solving skills and an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You will have experience with and be comfortable working with agile development teams. The role is pivotal to strengthen a user centred culture internally and convey that message to our clients.

Their opinion and knowledge matter and help shape the design. We also recognise that great design requires ongoing feedback, iteration and the desire for constant improvement.

As a Senior User Experience Designer you will :

  • Lead the collaboration effort with senior stakeholders and the rest of the Digirati team to understand user needs and then translate these into meaningful user experiences.
  • Deliver concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, system maps, user flows, wireframes, visual design comps, and prototypes with UXPin, Figma, Adobe CS, InVision, and other tools
  • Incorporate user research and usability testing to iterate on product and service solutions
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including product managers, engineers and subject matter experts.
  • Communicate the product’s vision and articulate design decisions and trade-offs to partners and clients, both verbally and visually
  • Partner with engineering to ensure designs are properly implemented
  • Be an advocate for using data to inform design decisions
  • Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)
  • Work with UI designers to implement attractive, compelling designs

Skills and Experience

  • You have a minimum 5 years’ industry/digital agency experience preferable with an associated portfolio.
  • You are a user experience designer that is constantly inspired—motivating those around you through your passion, knowledge and creativity.
  • You are well versed in both qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as synthesising and communicating your research findings.
  • You shine through your work—collecting user data and creating user flows and wireframes that simplify user interactions.
  • You are eager to visually communicate your ideas through prototypes to test with users.
  • You thrive in a collaborative workplace; partnering with other designers, engineers, product managers and other disciplines throughout the company.
  • You appreciate big-picture thinking. While details are everything, creating an experience that always keeps our users in mind is equally as important.
  • You are an empathetic user advocate that values the backing of research and data analysis when it comes to designing modern solutions.
  • You have experience shipping new products and features that address your users’ real needs.
  • You have experience working in an Agile/Sprint development process.
  • You are proficient in UXPin or similar, Figma and Adobe XD. Good knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator.
