A preview of some natural language processing work to drive search, discovery and analysis of digitised artifacts.
Digirati introduce a first look at some work they are doing using natural language processing techniques, and the IIIF Image and IIIF Presentation APIs to produce enriched descriptions and metadata to drive search, discovery and analysis of digitised cultural heritage objects.
This work takes an images-first approach, and can work even without extensive machine-readable metadata or curated descriptions of the content.
Part of this work was done for the Indigenous Digital Archives project, a project from the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Work which has been funded by a US IMLS National Leadership Grant, and by the Knight Foundation
